YAE View 日本語

Images, video, PDFs.
Side by side.

Up to eight panels on one screen. Each panel opens its own folder, so files stored in completely different places can be compared without navigating back and forth.

Installer

Open one file, close it, open the next.
YAE View exists to end that round trip.

Compare without closing

Every panel keeps its own folder. Two files stored far apart stay on screen together, and you move through both from there.

Formats stop mattering

PSD, CLIP STUDIO files and RAW all open as they are, with no export step. Video and PDFs sit in the same grid.

Mark it up in place

Note what you spot without leaving the file. For PDFs, your notes export baked into a single document.

01 Load

Drop in a whole folder.

Drag from Explorer and the panels fill straight away. No picking files one at a time, no waiting for an import.

  • Drag and drop a folder or a single file
  • Or double-click a panel to browse for one
  • Keep whole sets of panels as colour-coded tabs

02 Arrange

One to eight panels,
switched in a click.

Change the split whenever you like. Panels can be dragged into a new order, and anything you no longer need can be selected as a block and cleared at once.

  • Drag panels to reorder them
  • Shift-drag to select several and delete them together
  • Each panel holds its own folder

Yae (八重) is Japanese for eightfold — eight layers, one over another. Eight panels; hence the name.

03 Advance

One wheel.
Next image or frame.

Just scroll over a panel. On an image it moves to the next file; on a video it steps one frame at a time. Nothing to switch, nothing to hold down.

  • Images and PDFs move to the next file
  • Video steps one frame forward or back
  • Hold Shift or Ctrl to jump in 30- or 10-second steps

04 Inspect

Double-click any panel
to fill the screen.

Zoom in and check the detail without ever leaving the set.

  • Zoom, rotate, flip and crop
  • B drops a bookmark; Shift+ jumps between them
  • Edit mode adds freehand, shapes, text and pasted images

05 Export

Reorder the pages,
export one PDF.

Drag pages into a new order, drop the ones you do not need, and export. Anything you drew or wrote is baked in.

  • Continuous scrolling through every page
  • Text-based PDFs can be selected and copied
  • Send straight to print

One QR code to the device in your hand.

As long as both are on the same network, whatever is on screen opens on a phone or tablet. No upload, no account.

  • Right-click to show the QR code
  • Sharing can be stopped at any moment
  • The first time, Windows asks you to allow it through the firewall

Also included

Batch rename

Numbering and find-and-replace, with the resulting names previewed as you type. If it comes out wrong, one step puts it back.

Two-page spreads

Read two pages at once. Binding direction goes either way, so right-to-left books follow correctly.

Always a keystroke away

Closing the window leaves YAE View in the system tray. Ctrl+Shift+A brings it back, and the shortcut can be changed.

Three bookmark colours

Mark pages in yellow, red or green. Keep fixes and checked pages in different colours, then jump between bookmarks to walk through them.

Export a video frame by frame

Mark A and B, and the range comes out as numbered stills, one per frame. It can also keep only the frames where the drawing changes, so a cut holding each drawing for two or three frames yields just the drawings. The frame number can be burned in.

Play at your own speed

Playback runs from 0.1x to 4x, and the skip amount is yours to choose. Slow for following the motion, fast for skimming a long recording.

Supported formats

PSD and PSB, CLIP STUDIO PAINT .clip files, and RAW from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm and others all open directly, with no export step in between.

CLIP STUDIO PAINT .clip files are shown using the preview image stored inside them. RAW is decoded through a conversion library, so a camera released very recently may not be readable yet. If a file will not open, please tell me using the form below.

Install

  1. Download the installer and run it

    Double-click yae-view-tauri_0.1.19_x64-setup.exe.

  2. If “Windows protected your PC” appears

Click More info, then Run anyway. The warning appears because the installer is not code-signed.

  3. Launch it from the Start menu

Search for “yae-view-tauri”. You can also right-click an image or video and use “Open with”.

Before you start

64-bit Windows 10 and 11 only. There is no Mac or Linux build.

Loading several thousand images at once takes a while to build the thumbnails. A PDF with many pages can also be slow to appear the first time.

Network sharing needs Windows firewall permission the first time you use it. Until you grant it, the QR code appears as normal but nothing connects.

Bugs and requests

A file that will not open, something drawn wrong, a feature you wish existed — all of it helps. Opening this page from the app’s help screen fills in the version details below automatically.

Logs can contain file paths. Have a look, and delete anything you would rather not send.

This box is editable too — remove anything you do not want to send.

Get through the checking faster.
